Coronation

  The coronation of Queen Elizabeth II as monarch of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon took place on 2 June 1953. Elizabeth ascended the throne at the age of 25, upon the death of her father, King George VI, on 6 February 1952, and was proclaimed queen by her various privy and executive councils shortly afterwards.
  Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953 resulted in logistical exercise of coordinating the issue of Coronation Stamps from the Commonwealth and Crown Colonies. 62 of the stamps within the collection – issued on behalf of the majority of countries that feature within it – were co-ordinated by the Crown Agents’ offices in London. 175 million stamps were printed during june 1953 and shipped around the world by Bradbury Wilkinson and De La Rue.
